DIABLO GAME

The story unfolds in four Acts, one for each major town. Devil May Cry 3 opens in Dante's as-of-yet unnamed shop as a mysterious man called Arkham appears to offer an invitation from Dante's brother Vergil, in the form of a brutal demon attack. After Dante defeats the monsters inside and outside his shop, an immense tower erupts from the ground a short distance away. Sensing Vergil atop the structure, Dante takes the situation as a challenge.

At the tower's entrance Dante encounters Cerberus, defeats him and claims the monster's soul, which transforms into a new weapon. In what becomes a recurring game mechanic, the souls of some defeated boss monsters are transformed into new weapons for Dante's arsenal. Dante is then attacked by a woman on a motorcycle, whose name later becomes Lady. It is revealed in subsequent cutscenes that Arkham is working for Vergil and they plan to take Dante's half of the amulet their mother gave them, and use its power to reactivate the tower's ability to connect the human and demon worlds. It is also revealed that Arkham is Lady's father, that he murdered her mother, and that she is pursuing him to seek revenge.

Tyson touches on childhood

Mike Tyson considers it a miracle that he lived to tell his tale. And he's telling it -- in graphic detail in a new documentary at the Cannes Film Festival.

"I lived a wild and extreme life," the former heavyweight champion told reporters Saturday. "I used drugs. I had altercations with dangerous people. I slept with guys' wives that wanted to kill me. I'm just happy to be here, you know. It's just a miracle."

The 41-year-old former boxer got a prolonged ovation at the Cannes screening for "Tyson," directed by his old friend James Toback ("Fingers").

In the movie, which blends old video footage and TV interviews, Tyson talks about getting beaten up and stolen from when he was an overweight kid. He chokes up when reminiscing about his late trainer, Cus D'Amato, who transformed the troubled teenager into a world-class champion.

Tyson spares no details in describing his sex life, and covers his career's low points, like biting Evander Holyfield's ear in 1997. He admits to many, many bad decisions.

But on one issue, he still refuses to take responsibility. He insists he is innocent of the 1991 rape of an 18-year-old beauty queen for which he served three years in prison.

"I've been abusive to women before in my life," he acknowledged. But in this case, "I thought [the conviction] was wrong, I thought it was unfair."

Toback, who has known Tyson for 23 years and gave him small parts in "Black and White" and "When Will I Be Loved," said he talked to Tyson in a soothing, hypnotic voice to get him to open up for the film.

Bangalore Open begins Sept. 29 in mumbai

India - Bangalore will replace the country's financial capital of Mumbai when the ATP Tour holds a tennis tournament in India this year.

The ATP, the governing body for men's professional tennis, announced the switch Tuesday. The Mumbai event was hampered by heavy rain during its two years.

Bangalore, in the southern India, hosted the ATP World Doubles Championship in 2000. The tournament will be called the Bangalore Open and begin Sept. 29.

Indian tennis star MaheshBhupathi, whose company Globo sport is the promoter of the event, welcomed the ATP Tour's return to his hometown.

NFL NOTIFY IT'S LABOURS

The NFL has officially notified its players union on Tuesday that it will opt out of the current collective bargaining agreement, which could lead to a season without a salary cap in 2010 and a possible lockout in 2011.

Owners had voted unanimously Tuesday morning to opt out of the deal, which was extended in March 2006. The NFL had until November to opt it out, but decided to do it early instead of waiting for the deadline.

This NFL league, however, emphasized that it will keep negotiating with the NFL Players Association and said games will be played "with out the threat of interruption for at least the next three seasons." More news on sports in forcoming posts

Davenport pulls out of French Open

Former world No. 1 player Lindsay Davenport has pulled out of the French Open because of personal reasons, organizers said on Tuesday.

Davenport, 31, who returned to the court last September after an 11-month absence to have a baby, is 26th in the WTA rankings. She was a French Open semifinalist in 1998.

Two other American women, Meilen Tu and Meghann Shaughnessy, have pulled out of the clay-court Grand Slam tournament, which starts Sunday, because of injuries.

Sixth-ranked Andy Roddick, who pulled out of the French Open on Monday because of a shoulder injury, will be replaced in the men's draw by Argentine Guillermo Coria, who was a finalist in Paris in 2004.

Olson to coach Arizona FOR THE next season

After taking a season-long leave of absence, Hall of Fame coach Lute Olson will return to Arizona for the 2008-09 season, the university announced this Monday.

Olson decided within the past week, after his time away under the Family Medical Leave Act expired last Friday, that he would resume coaching the Wildcats as soon as their current season is complete. "We are delighted that Lute will be rejoining the program," Arizona athletic director Jim Livengood said in a statement. "He is one of the true legends of collegiate coaching, and his return is something that I know will be embraced by everyone who cares about our basketball program."

Through a spokesperson, Olson said he plans to coach through the end of his contract, which expires in 2011. "I am very eager to be back doing what I love, which is coaching this team," Olson said in a statement. "I appreciate everyone's support during this period and want to thank [interim coach] Kevin O'Neill for the great job he's done in my absence." Arizona's staff and players were informed of Olson's decision on Monday. According to an Arizona representative, once Olson completed his medical leave, he had the right to return to his job. Washington Wizards picked up a one-year option for coach Eddie Jordan

The Washington Wizards picked up a one-year option for coach Eddie Jordan on Monday, keeping him under contract through the 2009-10 season.

Jordan is the Wizards' most successful coach since the 1980s, leading the team to four consecutive playoff appearances. He is the Eastern Conference's longest tenured coach and is third in the NBA behind Jerry Sloan of the Utah Jazz and Gregg Popovich of the San Antonio Spurs.

"Eddie has done an outstanding job and has been instrumental in making us a perennial playoff team," team president Ernie Grunfeld said.

Jordan's record over five Wizards seasons is 196-214, but that includes a rebuilding 25-57 mark in his first year. Since then, he is 171-157.

FONTANA, Calif. -- Aiming to build some momentum heading into NASCAR's Chase for the Sprint Cup championship, Jimmie Johnson got off to a good start Friday, winning the pole at Auto Club Speedway.

Jimmie Johnson claimed his fourth pole of the season at California, and hopes it's a momentum boost going into the Chase.

The two-time reigning Cup champion was easily the fastest driver on the 2-mile oval in qualifying for Sunday's Pepsi 500, turning a fast lap of 180.397 mph.

"I'm really very proud of that lap," said Johnson, the defending race winner.

For much of the session, it appeared that the front row would be all Hendrick Motorsports, with Jeff Gordon sitting in the second spot with a lap of 179.565. But A.J. Allmendinger, one of nine drivers who had to qualify on speed, elbowed his way between the teammates with a lap of 179.659.

Kasey Kahne was fourth at 179.158, followed by Gillett Evernham Motorsports teammates Patrick Carpentier at 178.860 and Elliott Sadler at 178.492. Rounding out the top 10 were Martin Truex Jr. at 178.434, Dave Blaney at 178.381, Kurt Busch at 178.165 and rookie Aric Almirola at 178.134.

For Johnson, it was his first pole at the Southern California track, but the series-leading fourth of the season and the 17th of his career.

Heading into the penultimate race of the "regular season," Johnson is fourth in the season points. But, based on his two victories this year, he currently would be the third seed in the Chase, trailing only eight-time winner Kyle Busch and Carl Edwards, a six-time winner this season.

And Busch and Edwards have been the story lately, with Edwards winning three of the last four races and Busch turning in a win and a pair of runner-up finishes during the same span.

Johnson knows he has a lot of work to do if he is going to beat those two hot drivers once the Chase gets going. And a win here on Sunday would be a great way to gain some momentum.

"Yeah, it would mean a lot for us to win on a big track like this," Johnson said before his qualifying run. "Mile and a half and above tracks and downforce tracks have been kind of our weak spot.

"We've been making a lot of gains. Hopefully, we made some gains that will help us this weekend and moving into the Chase."

Josh Beckett was diagnosed with a strained right elbow

Josh Beckett was diagnosed with a strained right elbow and was placed on the 15-day disabled list Friday, retroactive to Aug. 18.

The announcement was made prior to the Red Sox's game Friday night against the Chicago White Sox. Tests on Beckett's elbow, taken during his visit with Dr. James Andrews on Friday, were clean, according to manager Terry Francona.

"I don't trust anybody more than I trust him when it comes to stuff like that. Just to go down there and hear it from him. It's something I needed to do, just to clear my mind," Beckett said. "He said my ligament looked fine. That's what I was afraid of. ... It was a big relief."

Francona said that if things progress, he expected Beckett to be ready next week for the series opener against the Rangers in Texas.

NEW YORK -- Third seed Svetlana Kuznetsova of Russia lost in the third round of the U.S. Open on Friday, making a slew of errors to hand the match 6-3, 6-7 (1), 6-3 to an aggressive Katarina Srebotnik of Slovenia.

Kuznetsova, who clinched the 2004 title and was last year's runner-up, was the second big name to tumble out of the tournament in two days. Top seed Ana Ivanovic of Serbia lost her second-round match on Thursday.

Kuznetsova said 28th seed Srebotnik, who has never gone beyond the third round at the U.S. Open, had played an "unbelievable" game.

"She played her top game," Kuznetsova said. "I didn't play bad. She just played her best game and I was not at my good level.

"I was fighting and I wanted so much to win that match. She served very well, she came to the net many times, she was more aggressive than I was," she said.

The first set went with serve until the eighth game, when a couple errors from Kuznetsova handed 28th seed Srebotnik a break and a chance to serve for the set. She wrapped it up with a solid game including an ace, one of six in the first set.

Kuznetsova played a commanding tiebreak in the second, winning it 7-1, but stuttered again in the third set.

Broad claimed five for 23 in a 10-over new-ball spell to help dismiss South Africa for a lowly 83 and secure England's emphatic triumph by 5.35pm in a match billed as a day-night international.

By comparison, Iceland goalkeeper Bjorgvin Pall Gustavsson saved just 36 percent, and his job was made harder by Iceland's suffering defense.

Left-back Nikola Karabatic fired one sharp shot after another, either straight over or straight through Iceland's defense, netting eight goals for France from nine attempts.

Center-back Bertrand Gille (FRA) effortlessly burst through Iceland's defense, scoring four out of five shots from the 6m line.

The match remained close for only 13 minutes, when France netted five goals in a row to take a 9-4 lead, and from then on France were too strong for the Icelandic men.

France steadily increased their lead throughout the second half as Iceland started missing passes, letting France get away with easy steals.

Iceland did have the most fast breaks in the game, but only managed to score from five of 11.

Traditional boxing powerhouse Cuba failed to win a gold medal, the first time that it hasn't won a gold medal in boxing since the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico. Cuba boycotted the 1984 and 1988 Olympic Games.

Prior to Beijing 2008, several champion Cuban boxers pulled out of Cuba's Olympic squad. Despite having an inexperienced squad, Cuba still managed to win eight medals, including four silver medals.

"They (the Cuban boxing team) came here with no experience, and they've won eight medals. No gold, but nobody was expecting more than one or two medals at all for us. Now we have not only eight medals, but also a team with Olympic experience ready to start preparing for the next Olympics," said Cuba's boxing coach Pedro Roque.

While Cuba saw its boxing fortunes decline, China not only won its first-ever boxing gold medal, but it won two gold medals on the same day.

Before the Games had begun, light-flyweight Zou Shiming was expected to win his country's first-ever Olympic gold medal in the sport. Despite the intense pressure, Zou boxed well throughout the whole tournament, culminating in today's win against Mongolia's Serdamba Purevdorj in the final.

Zhang Xiaoping's gold medal in the light-heavyweight class came as a surprise. Zhang defeated Ireland's Kenny Egan in the final 11-7.

Despite Purevdorj's loss against Zou, Mongolia will be very happy at its performance. Apart from the silver medal in the light-flyweight class, the small Asian country also won a gold medal in the bantamweight class when Badar-Uugan Enkhbat defeated Yankiel Leon Alarcon of Cuba.

The other traditional boxing powerhouse that was conspicuously absent from the top of the podium was the United States, who only managed to win one medal – the bronze medal that Deontay Wilder won in the heavyweight class.

BORMIO, Italy -- Lindsey Vonn completed the first American sweep of men's and women's ski titles in 25 years by winning the overall World Cup.

Lindsey Vonn was all smiles after adding the women's World Cup overall title to her downhill crown.

Vonn was assured of the win when she finished in the top 15 in the slalom and the only skier with a chance to catch her, Germany's Maria Riesch, failed to finish.

"It was amazing today," Vonn said. "I'm just really happy that it's over."

Bode Miller won his second overall title Thursday with a 12th-place finish in the super-G combined with Didier Cuche's announcement that he would not enter Saturday's season-ending slalom.

The last Americans to win both titles together were Phil Mahre and Tamara McKinney in 1983.

Vonn, who changed her last name from Kildow when she married former U.S. racer Thomas Vonn, became the second American woman to win the overall. She had already captured the season's downhill title.

Vonn lagged behind in 25th place after the first slalom run on Friday, but fought back with the fastest second run to finish 11th on the day, more than enough for the overall title.

"I was bummed out after the first run but I knew I had a good opportunity to charge in the second run and I kept charging and now I got some slalom points and won the overall," she said.

"It's amazing," Vonn said. "It was a tough day today with tough conditions but I just kept fighting and I took it."

Marlies Schild of Austria repeated as women's World Cup slalom champion by winning Friday's race, shortly after Vonn clinched the overall title.

Schild completed the two runs in a combined time of 1 minute, 52.78 seconds. Her nearest rival for the slalom title, Austrian teammate Nicole Hosp, finished fourth.

Veronika Zuzulova of Slovakia was second in 1:52.85, followed by Sarka Zahrobska of the Czech Republic in 1:53.02. Hosp, last season's overall winner, finished in 1:53.08.

AGENT ZERO GROUNDED

For weeks, Wizards guard Gilbert Arenas has been targeting a March 2 return from knee surgery. On Saturday night, he conceded that he's not close to being ready to play.

"If I wanted it to be, it can be realistic," Arenas said of his original goal. "But, it's going to be longer to get into shape."

Arenas had surgery on his left knee Nov. 21 and has been rehabilitating it since, but he hasn't practiced with the team.

"I'm trying to get some rhythm back in my legs, get some cardio in. That's all I'm working on now," he said. "I have to get my body used to the floor again."

Arenas first had surgery on the knee last April, and was ready to play when the season began. After playing just eight games and averaging 22.4 points, his knee hurt again, and another operation was ordered.

Does he have another goal?

"It's hard to tell," Arenas said. "If I really want to get out there, I can play now, but are you going to get two good minutes out of me? Right now, it's about me trying to get my body into shape and ready to play again. That's where I'm at right now."

Meanwhile, All-Star forward Caron Butler remains out with a hip flexor strain. Butler has missed 11 of the past 13 games, and was examined by team physicians prior to Saturday's 110-95 win against Charlotte.

"He's not playing tonight. He's not ready to go," Washington coach Eddie Jordan said.

"No long-range plan right now. He's not ready to practice. We may even cut back on some of his extraneous rehabbing -- maybe calm him down a little more."

Prior to Saturday's win, Washington had lost 10 of 11 games, and Jordan says he's concentrating on the 10 players he's able to dress.

"There's nobody coming in to save us right now," he said.

INDIA TAKES ON AUSSIES TODAY !

Needing to win just one more game to ensure a berth in the cricket tri-series final, India will seek to get the job done on Sunday itself as they go into their penultimate league match against Australia with the form of some key batsmen being a concern.

A win will almost certainly take Mahendra Singh Dhoni's men to the title round and render their game against Sri Lanka in Hobart on Tuesday of only academic interest.

Sri Lanka need to win both their remaining matches and at the same time hope that India lose both their games to go through to the final.

India is no different than others when it comes to batting woes in the low-scoring series and, in all probability, Virender Sehwag will mark a return to the playing eleven to bolster the line-up.

It would mean India discarding its new-found preference of five bowlers. It would revert to four frontline bowlers and expect the fifth bowler's quota to be shared between Sachin Tendulkar, Sehwag and Yuvraj Singh. Hope india will won this game at ease
